The Five Elements originate from ancient Eastern philosophy. According to this belief, all things in the universe are composed of five fundamental elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. These elements interact through cycles of creation and control—Metal generates Water, Water nourishes Wood, Wood fuels Fire, Fire produces Earth, and Earth gives rise to Metal. At the same time, Metal conquers Wood, Wood penetrates Earth, Earth absorbs Water, Water extinguishes Fire, and Fire melts Metal. This dynamic interplay forms the underlying logic of the universe’s operation, influencing the flow of energy in the environment and affecting human destiny.
Feng Shui is the study of environmental energy (or "qi"). By adjusting the relationships between people and their surroundings—such as spatial layout and material elements—it seeks to attract positive outcomes, avoid misfortune, and enhance one’s fortune.
